May 27, 2008 · Are there any advantages of running Kerio 4.2.2 (Last Free ?) vs Kerio 2.1.5 ? OK, I know they are old, but that might just be an advantage. I'm quite sure I don't want anything that checks content of web pages, consults with google to see if pages are adequate to my sensitivity, or "suggests" upgrades or special offers all the time.
Jun 29, 2006 · On July 1, existing versions (2.1.5 and 4.2.0) of the Kerio firewall software will no longer provide firewall protection for University of Arizona computers. For continued firewall protection, it will be necessary to download the new version of Kerio from the Center for Computing and Information Technology Some freeware like the K-Lite Codec Pack and Calibre (and of course, there are others) are simply too actively maintained (not that this is a bad thing, of course) for me to continually be updating them. Another vote for kerio 2.1.5 . I'm not sure why they Fisher-Priced the latest version, maybe trying to capture some of the Zonealarm market. Either way, 2.1.5 does a great job. Even with a router, I still keep the software firewall on. I know immediately if anything ever tries to call out which is a good thing.
